ince 1970, when his debut with the world-premiere
recording of Antonio Lauro's legendary Sonata was released by the Promus
label in South America, Ricardo Iznaola produced 17 recordings for the
Promus, Belter, Columbia and Luthier labels. In 1991 he founded his own recording and
publishing company, IGW (Iznaola Guitar Works), through which he issued the
following CD's: The Dream of Icarus (2-CD set), 1927 - Spanish
Guitar Music from the Time of García Lorca, Latin Expressions
(with the Kairos String Quartet), Heritage - The Guitar in Venezuela, a monumental double CD anthology of music by Venezuelan composers (Sojo, Borges, Lauro, Riera, and many more) and
Frank Schubert's Winterreise (Winter's Journey), with American basso Kenneth Cox, presenting Mr. Iznaola's arrangement for voice and guitar.
"Iznaola's transcendental and consummate musicianship"
challenges the term 'virtuosity' as applied to the guitar."
